You’re Invited to my Exclusive Core De Force Launch Party!

So What’s Core De Force?

Core De Force is the first program from Beachbody’s newest Super Trainers Joel Freeman and Jericho McMatthews. They are experts in the field of fitness, group fitness, and kick ass MMA style workouts. If you want to blow off some of that holiday stress and finish the year in better shape than you started it in then the MMA inspired Core De Force is for you. One of the coolest things about Core De Force is that each workout is broken into 3-minute “rounds” which is just like a real boxing match. During each 3 minute round you will alternate between Boxing, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai-inspired combinations, body weight training, and cardio spikes. This will ignite your fat burning and shred your core through massive amounts of engagement and rotation during each and every combination you throw. I know that you may be thinking that you do not know the first thing about throwing a punch or kick but it doesn’t matter. There is an amazing modifier with every workout and even tutorials that show you how to throw a kick and a punch properly. I love these kinds of workouts because they blow off so much steam while I am working and I always get so sore because I find myself really engaging and going HARD! I got to do a couple Sneak Peeks of this work out and I am hooked!!!

Best Green Juice Recipe! 

  Fruits and veggies are so important for a balanced diet. They help maintain our gut health, fight disease, nourish our body and flush our systems! 

  This green juice recipe is perfect for Boosting Metabolism, Immune Health, a Digestive Aid and more! And when used properly with a healthy diet it will increase weight loss by eliminating toxins! 

  Whether you are an avid juicer or you are more like me and have never really loved juicing I guarantee you will LOVE this recipe!

  Now I recommend you juice at least once daily in combination with a healthy diet to see maximum effects of the juice. I am not an advocate of complete juice cleanses or liquid diets but rather daily nutrition in a balanced and properly portioned diet.

  If you do choose to juice for an entire day and use this juice as a cleanse it is a perfect mix to make 3 times daily, however do not maintain and entirely liquid diet for longer than 3 days or it can do potential harm to your body instead of good. 

Here is my favorite juice recipe!

Ingredients

  • Apples – 1.5 medium (3″ dia) 364g
  • Cucumber – 1/2 cucumber (8-1/4″) 301g
  • Ginger Root – 1 thumb (1″ dia) 24g
  • Kale – 6 leaf (8-12″) 210g (2 big handfuls of chopped)
  • Lemon – 1/2 fruit (2-3/8″ dia) 42g

I recommend Granny Smith apples but you can use whatever you have on hand 🙂 Many people enjoy adding 4 celery stalks as well but I prefer to leave it out 🙂

Healthy Breakfast On The Go!

Do you ever wake up late or take too long getting ready that you have to rush out the door?!? Me too.

Those are the mornings you are tempted to stop at Starbucks or a coffee shop or Micky D’s for a delish breakfast sandwich on the go OR grab one of those donuts floating around the office 🙈 And what’s the harm, it’s only one meal right?

WRONG!

Your first meal of the day sets your tone for the entire day and even the rest of your week! Not to mention all the science behind boosting your metabolism from the beginning of your day. If you allow yourself to give in to an unhealthy choice or temptation first thing, mentally you’ve already conceded your health for the day and put it on the back burner…you will be more likely to make “less than perfect” choices the rest of the day! 

THE GOOD NEWS: 

You can fix this issue, simply!

Here is my go to recipe for a quick breakfast scramble that can be prepped in advance AND made into breakfast burritos, bowls or eaten totally on its own!

Ingredients:

  • 18 eggs
  • 1 package sweet potato hashbrowns (frozen is fine) or chop up your own(works great with regular potatoes too as pictured)
  • 10 diced mushrooms
  • 3 diced green peppers, or any you prefer
  • 1  diced large onion
  • Veggies of your choice!
  • Turkey breakfast sausage
  • Turkey bacon
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive or coconut oil
  • Pink Himalayan salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • *optional whole wheat tortillas
  •   *shredded cheese

Directions:

  • Brown the sausage in a large skillet
  • Add bacon by dicing with scissors
  • Cook through 
  • Remove meats from pan and place on plate or bowl nearby
  • With grease left in pan, add 2 tbsps olive or coconut oil
  • Add sweet potatoes and cook 3 minutes on each side
  • Remove from pan and set aside
  • Crack all eggs into pan and scramble with whisk
  • Add all seasonings 
  • Add veggies
  • Cook on low until eggs are scrambled well
  • Add meat back in and stir well
  • Add sweet potatoes in and stir well
  • Remove from heat and store in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.*
  • Scoop 1 cup servings in microwave safe bowl and cover with a damp paper towel and heat for 2 minutes to serve

* my favorite option is to make burritos 

  • Scoop by 1 cup servings into the center of whole wheat tortillas and top with a dash of shredded cheese
  • Roll tight
  • Wrap with Saran Wrap 
  • Place 3-4 burritos to a bag in freezer safe large ziplock bags and place in freezer(keeps 1 month) or fridge(keeps 1 week)
  • To cook  unwrap and wrap in paper towel 
  • From fridge microwave 1 minute
  • From freezer microwave 3 minutes

Check Out these ‘Tricks & Treats’ To Keep You On Track!

  With Halloween just around the corner your house is probably stocked with mini chocolate bars and sweets galore, and if you aren’t yet, you will be! Whether you have kiddos who will bring home their loot for you to “taste test” or you plan on sitting by the door and doling out the goods to your own neighborhood kids, the temptation remains the same…SUGAR!
We all love it from time to time and the more we eat, the more we crave! So here are a few tried and true tricks to keep you out of the treats 😉

1.  Eat Before You Trick or Treat

Serve a healthy family dinner before the fun begins, this way the kids will be less tempted to eat candy along the way and so will you! After trick or treating, offer a cup of warm sugar free hot cocoa made with almond milk or low fat milk with just one treat to ensure that blood sugar is stable before bedtime, and hold yourself to the same treat 😉

2.  Trick-or-Treat and Exercise  Make your children walk from house to house instead of driving them, and walk along with them. Parents can even encourage siblings or friends to wear pedometers or activity meters and start a friendly competition for who can be the most active while they are collecting candy.

3.  Keep the Best, Donate the Rest!

When children get back home from trick-or-treating,  have them make two piles: one for the candy they want to keep, another for the candy they will not eat. Consider donating the second pile to a local senior citizens home, food pantry, Ronald McDonald House, or children’s hospital.
My family personally donates our leftovers and extra to Operation Gratitude, where it is shipped over seas to our troops and brightens the day of a hard working soldier who is missing the Halloween fun! My kids look forward to doing it every year and it starts off the season of giving! Ask your dentist about it or find local drop offs here!

4.  Procrastinate

Purchase Halloween candy the day of trick or treating to avoid temptation. Buy less than what you think you will need to avoid leftovers and purchase candies that you do not like, if you still have leftovers donate them! If you really have a hard time with temptation choose to pass out non-candy treats such as bouncy balls, spider rings, pencils, erasers, bubbles or stickers.

5. Stock Up on Non-Candy Alternatives

Both for you and your kiddos, stock up on items you and they enjoy and offer those as alternatives to candy or in addition to eating 1 piece of candy vs. 2 or 3. Some great examples might be Trail Mix, Yogurt Covered raisins or pretzels, fruit for smoothies and frozen sugar free yogurt or popsicles. Non food items are great too like an extra 10-30 minutes of screen time, a special movie, a fun project, bubble bath, bubbles, nature walk etc.
When you’re tempted to grab a candy bar or your kiddos are begging you for them, reach for an alternate fun snack or activity and keep that craving at bay!

Chia Seeds, Chia Gel and Why You Need It!

Chia Gel.jpgSomebody loves making Chia Gel (and using it!) it is so fun and seriously so good for you!

Do you use Chia seeds?

Here are some great reasons to!
Chia seeds are high in fiber, calcium, phosphorous, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants! Chia seeds score bonus points for being a complete protein. Also, chia seeds don’t require grinding to render the nutrients bioavailable and they are less prone torancidity thanither options on the market.


SO HOW DO YOU MAKE CHIA GEL?
Add 2 tbsps to 1 cup of water and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, shaking optional 😉 they will last about 2 weeks in your fridge and are great in water and many other ways!

WAYS TO USE CHIA GEL
Use as an egg-substitute in baking.
1 egg = 1 tablespoon chia seeds + 3 tablespoons water = about 1/4 cup gel
Add to smoothies. Yes, you can add the seeds directly into smoothies, without creating a gel. But, the little seeds tend to stick to the sides of the blender. Clean-up is easier when you add the seeds in gel form.
Make your own boutique juice beverages. You’ve seen them at the grocery store, now make them at home. Simply add some gel to your freshly juiced beverage to make it even healthier and more festive.
